Calculate GST both ways: add GST to a net amount to get the gross price, or remove GST from a GST-inclusive price to find the base amount. Pick a rate — 5% and 18% are the main slabs since the September 2025 rationalisation, with legacy 12%/28% and the 40% demerit rate also supported — and see the GST amount, the total, and the CGST/SGST split.

How to use the GST Calculator

  1. Enter the amount.
  2. Choose whether to add GST (amount is exclusive) or remove GST (amount is inclusive).
  3. Pick the GST rate.
  4. See the GST amount, total, and CGST/SGST breakdown.

Frequently asked questions

How do I remove GST from a total price?

Base amount = total ÷ (1 + rate/100). For example, to remove 18% GST from ₹1,180: 1180 ÷ 1.18 = ₹1,000 base, so GST is ₹180. Switch the tool to 'Remove GST' to do this automatically.

What is the CGST and SGST split?

For intra-state sales, GST is split equally into CGST and SGST. At 18%, that's 9% CGST + 9% SGST. The calculator shows this split for you.

Which GST rate should I use?

Most goods and services now fall in the 5% or 18% slab after the September 2025 rate rationalisation; a 40% rate applies to demerit goods like tobacco, pan masala and luxury cars. Check your item's HSN/SAC code to confirm.
